Monday Monday :: The Holiday Weekend

Happy Monday lovelies.  We celebrated a few birthday's this weekend including Americas.  With drinks for an special lady's 31st at Nomi, where the little Man decided to show off his bartending skills.  Followed by beach time and BBQ on the 4th.  And more beach time on Saturday for one of the little Man's buddy's first birthday.  Sunday we ate brunch at my new favorite brunch spot: Summer House, if you go you have to try the breakfast tostadas and the sea salt and chocolate chip cookie.  Followed by a quick trip to the zoo, and hunting for a scuba top for this weekend's trip to Puerto Rico.  I struck out on the scuba top, but if you know of a place I should check out, let me know!  And now we're back to the grind till this weekend's getaway for my mother-in-law's 60th birthday.  Hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend!

Birthday fun at Nomi and a baby bartender.
Celebrating the fourth at the beach and the little Man's favorite, a watermelon.
A day at the beach for Mateo's first birthday!
Sunday funday at the zoo.

Monday, Monday :: The Weekend

I'm so incredibly proud of the Mister.  This weekend he graduated from his residency program.  That's right folks: four years of medical school, done: five years of residency, done; only one more year of fellowship left!  I can't believe it's been 9 years, and he is pretty excited to be 90% of the way there!  We celebrated with his class at Tavernita, congrats to the other 4 incredible people in his graduating class!

To keep the party going, I threw the Mister a little rooftop soiree on Sunday with our nearest and dearest.  Just a little something to commemorate the past 5 years, with the amazing view at JParker and of course some bubbly!

Saturday we spent the day celebrating our fifth wedding anniversary :)  With brunch at The Carriage House, pre-show dinner & drinks at Zed 451 (the original plan was Sixteen at the Trump, but with the downpour we decided on a indoor location), and post-show dinner at GT Oyster.  We watched The Red Bull Flying Bach show at the Civic Opera House, which was incredibly entertaining.  Saturday was in a nutshell, a whirlwind of eating & drinking, planning our anniversary trip, and just enjoying us.

Weekend Recap

Hope you lovelies had a nice long holiday weekend.  We spent this past Sunday at Apple Holler in Wisconsin, picking some apples and introducing the boys for the first time.  So glad Ethan, Evan, & the little Man were able to have their first play date.  It was the perfect way to spend a fall weekend!  And I finally tested out the new crock pot, I'm so in love with the idea of putting in ingredients and 6 to 8 hours later, enjoying a delicious meal.

Monthly Updates :: 5 Months & the Mister's Birthdy Weekend

This weekend we celebrated the Mister's thirtieth birthday (& the little Man's 5 month birthday) with brunch at the Trencherman before he headed out to Lolla.  The Mother's Milk at Trencherman is my new favorite summer cocktail, who knew you could carbonate vodka, it was refreshingly delicious.  Speaking of delicious, I made the mister a yummy birthday cake in the shape of a 3 and a 0, hopefully I'll get a tutorial up here soon.  And in other exciting baby news, my cousin had her little Man last week, welcome to the world baby Max, I can't wait to spoil you.  Hope you lovelies had a wonderful weekend!

Weekend Recap

It was a busy weekend with engagement parties, bridal showers, farmer's markets, and of course the Blackhawks.  Is it sad that I'm glad to be back to work this week?  And on another note, I can't believe it's already July!  We went to watch the beginning of the Blackhawks parade on Friday, and made a pit stop at the French Market on Clinton before heading back to work.  We came back with 2 loafs from the Little Goat Bread Co., I love that place.  After a couple of hours at work we headed out to City Winery for a surprise Tuscan bridal shower for a coworker.  Their soup of the day, a creamy jalapeno soup, was beyond delicious!!  Saturday was the little Man's first trip to the farmer's market, which he handled like a champ.  We feasted, because any trip to the farmer's market isn't complete without a meal, and picked up some veggies, peonies, and hand churned butter.  And we celebrated the engagement of 2 love birds, I can't wait for their wedding this Labor Day weekend, if the engagement party was any indication, the wedding will be a blast.

Monday, Monday

This weekend was pretty relaxing, despite the NATO summit.  They did block off part of our street for NATO motorcades, but I only saw one go by.  We had dinner and drinks at Sawtooth on Friday, if you've never been, I would highly recommend it, and they have a great outdoor space.  We also managed to hit up the Green City Farmer's market this Saturday for some crepes, bock choy, and lilies.  And I learned a lily fun fact.  Regular lilies and Oriental lilies are planted at the same time, however Oriental lilies take 3months before they can be harvested, and yes Oriental lilies are the ones that smell amazing.
